On May 16th the brothers of California Gamma at UC Santa Barbara hosted their annual football tournament to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The Associated Student Body, Activate Sports Drinks, SexergyEnergy Drink, and David Namminga Graphics, and multiple other local businesses sponsored this football tournament. A total of eight fraternities participated in the men's bracket and ten sororities participated in the female bracket. SigEp hosted a team, and some brothers coached several girls teams. During the week long event, coaches held practices and drew up plays for the girls. After the practices the coaches took their teams to fundraisers at a local pizza shop on Monday and a sandwich shop on Wednesday. SigEp hosted obstacle and agility training on Thursday for the sororities who each contributed to the JDR Foundation. Additionally, there was great participation from outside of greek life. Both the Chess club and Surf club played in Sunday's games! In total the brothers of Cal Gamma SigEp raised four thousand dollars for the JDR Foundation and are extremely proud of how the event went. This successful philanthropy will be held again next spring where the brothers hope to raise double what they did this year.
